Buleleng - Nowadays, the use of herbal medicines is increasingly being used by the public. Herbal medicines are known for their lack of side effects that are often found in chemical medicines, as well as their proven safety for all ages.
In the realm of natural medicine, one product that is currently being discussed is Cukli oil, an herbal concoction that is believed to have a number of health benefits.
Jro Mangku Gde Sukita has been practicing Balinese usada from oil products since 2015, which is predicted to also be able to cure diseases originating from cetik (man-made poisons).
Sukita, who was met at his residence in Banjar Dinas Dawan, Kalianget Village, Seririt District, Buleleng, Sunday (14/4/2024), said that Cukli oil is not only a product, but also a hereditary heritage involving a very special main ingredient, namely Cukli Brumbun, a type of marine life that lives at a depth of 703 meters below sea level.
The uniqueness of Cukli Brumbun lies not only in its hard-to-find existence and age that has reached hundreds of millions of years, but also in its ability in traditional medicine. From internal pain to skin problems, Cukli Brumbun can cure them.
"Cukli oil has been proven effective in treating a wide range of diseases, from common ones such as jaundice, diabetes, to more serious diseases such as cancer or stroke. There have been many testimonials from various regions in Bali," said Sukita.
Apart from being used for internal diseases, Cukli oil is also an option for external health problems, such as scabs, itching, or even bone pain. The process of making it is not haphazard, involving a mixture with clentic oil derived from 11 types of coconut fruit specially picked by considering duwase (good days in Hinduism), namely Patra Limutan.
"With a processing process that involves special rituals, such as determining good days and the nguripin or pasupati stage, Cukli oil is not only seen as a medicine, but also as a spiritual tool in healing," said Sukita.
By continuing to maintain the tradition of making it from generation to generation, Cukli oil is not only an option for those who prioritize natural medicine, but also a part of a cultural identity that is rich in local wisdom. (MC Buleleng Regency/Ag)
