Badung, The Bali Herald - The increasing number of incidents and suicide attempts at Tukad Bangkung Bridge, Pelaga Village, Petang District, has prompted the Badung Regency Government to strengthen the security system in the area. This effort is being carried out through cross-sector collaboration in response to various incidents that have occurred at the location.
One concrete step taken is the addition of two surveillance cameras (CCTV) on the central and eastern sides of the bridge by the Badung Regency Communication and Information Agency (Diskominfo). With this addition, there are now three active CCTV units operating 24 hours a day to monitor activities in the Tukad Bangkung area.
This was conveyed by the Head of Diskominfo Badung Regency, I Gusti Ngurah Gede Jaya Saputra, S.Sos., M.A.P., while attending the Tukad Bangkung Security Coordination Meeting held at the Petang Sub-District Office on Wednesday (21/1/2026).
Jaya Saputra explained that the Badung Communication and Information Agency continues to develop and improve the CCTV monitoring system, particularly in locations that require more attention.
“For now, we have added two CCTV cameras in the middle and east positions of the bridge. Thus, there are a total of three active CCTV cameras that can monitor activities at Tukad Bangkung for 24 hours. In addition, this meeting also serves as a forum for building cross-sector communication so that responses in the field can be carried out more quickly,” he said.
He hopes that this security reinforcement can be a preventive measure to anticipate unwanted incidents in the future. The Badung Regency Government, he continued, is committed to restoring the image of Tukad Bangkung as a leading tourist destination, not as a location with negative connotations.
"Hopefully, this step will be an effective preventive measure. We want to restore Tukad Bangkung as a tourist attraction in Pelaga Village," he said.
Meanwhile, Acting Head of Petang Sub-district, Anak Agung Ngurah Darma Putra, S.Sos., M.A.P., revealed that throughout 2025 there were quite a number of suicides recorded at the Tukad Bangkung Bridge. This situation has become a serious concern for all parties.
‘Through this coordination meeting, we want to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again. The Badung Communication and Information Agency has added two CCTV cameras to support security. In addition, the Public Works and Public Housing Agency has also installed barbed wire, and the village heads of Pelaga and Belok will prepare officers to guard the security posts that have been set up,’ he explained.
He added that the prevalence of these incidents has impacted the image of Tukad Bangkung, which was previously known as a tourist destination but is now associated with tragic events.
“Therefore, we are committed, together with all relevant parties, to restoring Tukad Bangkung’s image as a safe and comfortable tourist destination for both the community and tourists,” he concluded.
