Wayan Koster said that the international event has a much deeper meaning than just a martial arts competition.
‘The presence of the World Vovinam Championship on the Island of the Gods is not just a martial arts competition. It is also a momentum to strengthen friendship between nations,’ said Koster. The governor also expressed his hope that this event would have a positive impact on the economy of the Balinese people, especially in the tourism sector in Buleleng.
Similar support was expressed by the President of the World Vovinam Federation (WVVF), Maihuu Tin, who appreciated the championship despite the postponement. He called the participation of around 400 athletes from 26 countries a great honour.
On that occasion, Maihuu Tin also explained the noble philosophy of this Vietnamese martial art. ‘We ensure that all our athletes have loving hearts, brilliant minds, but remain in strong bodies. These athletes do not only serve their own countries. They serve humanity,’ he explained.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Regent of Buleleng and Chairman of the Organising Committee, I Gede Supriatna, stated that being the host was a great pride.
He emphasised that the world championship was a golden opportunity to promote the region's tourism potential.
‘For Buleleng, this world championship is a promotional event to introduce the tourism potential of Buleleng Regency,’ concluded Supriatna. To realise this, the committee has included a city tour for participants to directly introduce them to the charms of Buleleng tourism, with the hope that they will cherish beautiful memories and share them with their relatives in their home countries.
The main championship matches will be held at the Undiksha Jineng Dalem Indoor Tennis Stadium from 3 to 6 November 2025. A total of 26 countries, including Indonesia, Vietnam, India, France, Japan, and Russia, will compete for the world championship title, combining physical strength with the humanitarian values that form the essence of Vovinam itself.
