Buleleng – Efforts to strengthen ecological resilience are once again the focus of the Buleleng Regency Government, Bali. Coinciding with the commemoration of Indonesian Tree Planting Day (HMPI) and welcoming the 206th anniversary of Ambengan Village, Buleleng Regent I Nyoman Sutjidra led a tree planting activity in the Ambengan Village Forest on Saturday (22/11/2025).
The solemn event was also attended by Deputy Regent Gede Supriatna and Secretary of the Buleleng Regency TP PKK, Hermawati Supriatna, affirming the local government's commitment to preserving nature, especially the upstream area, which plays an important role in water management.
In his remarks, Sutjidra emphasised the importance of concrete actions in maintaining environmental balance. He called on the community to strengthen nature conservation efforts, especially as the rainy season approaches, which is a crucial time to anticipate potential disasters.
‘Ambengan Village has a strategic role as one of the upstream villages in Buleleng. Environmental sustainability here will have a direct impact on water availability and environmental balance in the downstream area. Let us protect our village together, protect its forests, to prevent flooding and landslides, and ensure the sustainability of life for our children and grandchildren,’ said the Regent of Buleleng.
The planting was carried out collaboratively by planting 200 seedlings of superior fruit trees on an area of 20 acres. The seedlings consisted of 100 durians, 50 mangosteens, and 50 avocados. In addition to functioning to preserve soil and water, these types of trees also have economic value for community empowerment in the long term.
Residents enthusiastically welcomed the activity, viewing it as tangible government support for environmental conservation efforts that have been passed down through generations. This multipurpose tree planting initiative is expected to strengthen the role of Ambengan Village Forest as a water regulator while also opening up future economic opportunities.
